Emory U. Beck

Mr. Emory Urell Beck age 92, of Keystone Heights passed away Monday, April 8, 2019. Mr. Beck was born on January 19, 1927 in Surrency, Georgia to the late John "Perry" and Laura Bell (Bacon) Beck and moved to Keystone Heights in 1970. Prior to retirement he worked for the Jacksonville Branch Federal Reserve Bank starting as a security guard and ending in bookkeeping. He worked for the City of Keystone Heights as a grounds keeper and was the owner/operator of P.K. Flowers (now Sweet Ps). He was a volunteer fireman and advanced to EMT and Paramedic with Clay County Fire and Rescue. Emory was a servant of God, always willing to help others and was a longtime member of Gadara Baptist Church. His other memberships include the Masonic Lodge of Jacksonville and the Lions Club. In his spare time he enjoyed growing pineapples, was known locally as the "Pineapple Man" and was an avid fisherman, hunter and sportsman. Survivors are: his wife of 69 years, Ruth (Patterson) Beck of Keystone Heights, daughter, Pamela Kaye (Clay) Isaac of Keystone Heights, sons, Michael Emory Beck (Janalee Scott) of Keystone Heights, Richard Alan Beck of Tallahassee and Charles David (Cathy) Beck of Keystone Heights, siblings, Sidney Beck of Callahan, Melton Beck and Beth Gay both of Jacksonville. Also left are six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be at Gadara Baptist Church on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Shawn House officiating. Interment will follow in Gadara Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Gadara Baptist Church Building Fund, 6779 County Road 315, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
