Mr. Erik Lee Harris, age 46, of Keystone Heights passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident while working in Indiantown, FL. He was born in Washington, DC on June 14, 1971 and was raised in and around Melrose. For most of his life, Mr. Harris worked as a Boiler/Welder for major power plant corporations traveling to various cities for work. He enjoyed canoeing, putt-putt golfing, watching movies and his favorite TV shows, cooking his favorite foods like lasagna and spaghetti, tending to his lawn and flowers, and designing artwork to be used for his T-shirt printing side business. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his beloved chiquaqua, Ozzie, over the past eleven years. Most of all he loved his family and was always there to support them. Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his mother, Camille (Tasker) Harris. His survivors are his wife, Renee Szalay of Keystone Heights, and their two children, Jessica Watkins (Robert) of Saint Augustine, and Justin Lee Harris of Keystone Heights. Also left behind is his father, Richard Harris of Melrose, and four siblings, Rick Harris and Jim Harris (Amy) both of Melrose, Kim Broadway (Barry) and Terrie Winters (Elijah) all of Keystone Heights, along with his mother-in-law, Norma Szalay of Lincoln Park, Michigan. Visitation is scheduled at the funeral home for Wednesday, October 18, 2017 between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held in Melrose at a later date.
