Erik Richard Miller

Mr. Erik Richard Miller, 41, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Erik was born February 13, 1977 in Rensselaer, Indiana and was a resident of Nocatee for the past several years. Erik was a Military Police Officer with the United States Army, and retired after 20 years of service to his Country with a rank of Sergeant First Class. He served in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Korea, Albania, Germany and was awarded 2 bronze service stars in addition to many other awards. In the Army, he was a K9 Unit Trainer and Kennel Master and was very passionate and proud of his work with the K9's. In addition to his service, he was currently a Conductor for the Florida East Coast Railway and held 2 bachelor degrees in Criminal Justice. Erik was a wonderful father to his son, Ayden, who he loved dearly. He will be remembered as the BEST, most loving, husband, father, son, brother, friend, and as the "greatest cook ever". Survivors are his wife, Amy Leah (Abercrombie) Miller of Nocatee, son, Ayden Miller of Nocatee, parents, Jim and Elaine Miller of Jacksonville, sister, Carrie Cloo of Kansas, and step daughter, Alexis Abercrombie (Brandon Tebo) of Clearwater. Also surviving him are his nieces, Tiffany Cloo of Kansas and Sydney Kay Abercrombie Cheeseman of Green Cove Springs, godparents, Bob and Sandy Miller of New York, father and mother in law, Stan and Doris Abercrombie of Green Cove Springs, sister in law, Melody Kay Abercrombie of Green Cove Springs, a large extended family and numerous friends. A Viewing will be held Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home, 1811 Idlewild Avenue, SR 16, Green Cove Springs, FL. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 26, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
