Ernestine S. Ostanik

Ernestine S. Ostanik, age 80 of Gainesville, FL died on June 22, 2015. She was born on Feb. 2, 1935 to Emmitt Swords and Ida Lee Fender, in Adel Georgia. She retired as a lab technician for the Division of Plant Industry and loved the Gators, fishing, gardening, sewing, quilting and crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and all siblings Aubry Swords, Vernon Swords, Zeb Swords, Mattie May Simmons, Myrtice Powell, Leroy Swords, and Floy Swords, and her husband Frank Ostanik. She is survived by children Dan (Marilynn) Mercer, Dwayne Mercer, Doug (Robin) Mercer, Steven (Dorothy) Ostanik, Frank (Susan) Ostanik, Teresa Donaway, and Mary Whitaker. She had 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 5-7pm at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Forest Meadows Central Mausoleum Chapel, 4100 NW 39th Ave. Gainesville, FL.
