Mr. Eugene V. ChasonMr. Eugene V. Chason age 88, of Hampton passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Woodlands Care Center in Gainesville. Mr. Chason was born on July 28, 1923 in Crescent City to the late Ira James and Ola R. Harrison Chason and has been an area resident for 70 years. Prior to retirement he worked as a carpenter in the construction industry. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War ll, was a life time member of Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, and a member of the American Legion post 56. Eugene was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Starke. Survivors are: daughter: Sandy Ficara of Micanopy; sisters: Evelyn Perry of Hampton; Edith Bruce of Gainesville; Granddaughter and care giver: Toni Labonte of Gainesville; grandson: Russell Manning, Jr. of Gainesville; great grandchildren: Hannah Manning of Indian Rocks Beach; Lilly Manning of Gainesville. The family will receive friends at JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME IN STARKE on Monday, October 31, 2011, from 5-7pm.
