Eugene Reese (USAF/Retired) 86, died on December 3, 2008 at Shands at Starke after a short illness. He was buried after a graveside memorial service at the Keystone Heights Cemetery on December 13th. Col. Reese was preceded in death by his wife Peggy and son Kenneth. He is survived by his three sons Craig of Hollywood, Kent of Middleburg, and Randy of Texas, as well as a grandson Dave, and great granddaughters, Morgan and Taylor all of Austin, TX.Gene Reese was a resident of Keystone Heights for over 35 years where he worked as a local developer with RWC Enterprises and realtor (Watson) and broker for more than 20 years. In his later years, he made a few modest donations to the Keystone Heights Campus of Sate Fe College, the Keystone Heights United Methodist Church, and the Keystone Heights High School Band. His primary charity was his community, especially his neighbors and friends in Keystone Heights.Col. Reese was a veteran of World War II, the Berlin Airlift and the Vietnam War, flying C-54s, B-17s and C-123s. He retired after almost 30 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force to Keystone Heights. He entered the Army in 1942 from Cincinnati his birthplace, but the familys origin is Thomson, GA for over 250 years.His hobbies were handyman services for his neighbors and friends in Keystone Heights, as well as gardening. In fact, he became a Florida Master Gardener through the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service.The family requests that anyone wishing to remember Gene Reese with a charitable donation make a gift to Haven Hospice 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, Fl 32606.
