Mr. Eugene SloanMr. Eugene Sloan age 87, of Green Cove Springs passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Governors Creek Health & Rehab. Mr. Sloan was born on January 6, 1925 in Pikeville, KY to the late Emzy and Clementine (Looney) Sloan and was an area resident for over 50 years. Eugene retired from the paper industry, was a member of the Masons Cabell Lodge # 116, and served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors are his wife of 61 years Alma (Compton) Sloan of Green Cove Springs; children: Deborah Sloan Ricks (James) of Green Cove Springs; Mike Sloan of Port St. Lucie; Doug Sloan of Winchester, KY; Steve Sloan of Port St. Lucie; siblings: Mildred McNutt of Virginia; Roger Sloan of Ohio; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the HELM-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 1611 Idlewild Ave., Green Cove Springs on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11 oclock.
