Evelyn Elizabeth Freshwater passed away on January 22, 2024, at the age of 87.Evelyn was born on October 23, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Margueritte Mims Neal and Cicero Rollins Neal. Evelyn obtained her GED, managed the Orange Tree restaurant at Regency Square Mall, was a proofreader at Harland, and a driver for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.Evelyn was a member of Southside Baptist Church and later Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church. She was saved and held a spiritual connection throughout her life.Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richard Ward Freshwater, as well as her siblings, Carl Neal, Dorothy Scott, Helen Ledig, Shirley McCormack, and Ruth Davis.She is survived by her children, Rita Zawadski (Joe) and Richie Freshwater; Grandchildren, Matthew Zawadski (Rebecca) and Aaron Zawadski (Amanda); Great Grandchildren, Wyatt Zawadski, Parker Zawadski, Holly Zawadski, and Luca Zawadski.The viewing will be held at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home (4140 University Blvd S, Jacksonville, FL 32216) on Friday, January 26th, 2024 between the hours of 6:00-8:00 PM, and the graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207) on January 27th, 2024 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in the Garden of Benediction. There will not be a procession from George Hewell to Greenlawn Cemetery.
