Evelyn May Houston, 94, of Starke, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.Born on February 4, 1930, in Pikesville, Kentucky to the late Ed Joseph and Liza Slone May.Evelyn was an avid doll collector and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved having her children and grandchildren over on holiday weekends and cooking and baking. She loved her garden and canning fresh vegetables and making the best jams ever! She also loved helping people and despite not having much formal education she went on to spend many years in the medical field caring for others.Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughters: Carol Alexander, Donna Sue Roper and Kathy Ottinger, brothers; Richard May, Don May, Billy May, and Homer May, sisters; Mildred Lee, June Hall, and JoAnn Barnes.Survivors include her loving children; Larry Nettles (Judy) of Glen Saint Mary's, and Mike Nettles (Louise) of Ponte Vedra Beach, and sister, Betty Starling of Starke. Also, survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.Graveside Services for Mrs. Houston will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Crosby Lake Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Crosby Lake Cemetery.
