Mrs. Evelyn Louise Samson 89, of Melrose died at the Shands at Starke Hospital on Wednesday April 27, 2011. Mrs. Samson was born on December 5, 1921 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to the late John and Maude Walker, was raised in the Church of Christ, and has been a resident of Melrose since 1958 moving from Columbus, Ohio. Prior to her retirement she was a secretary for the keystone State Bank, Melrose Elementary School, and had also worked for a telephone company in the St. Thomas Virgin Islands. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lewis Samson in March 2011 and also her grandson, Robin U. Ashley. Her survivor is her daughter, Elaine Ashley of Melrose, two grandchildren, Richard Ashley and Kathleen Ashley, three great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 5-8 p.m..A private burial is being held at the Providence United Methodist Cemetery in Windsor.
