Evert (Ed) Douglas Phillips (77), Born April 19, 1947, in Maben, West Virginia, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at home, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.He married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Jean Phillips, on August 8, 1964. He enlisted in the Air Force and became a sergeant, fighting in the Vietnam War.After his career in the military, he became a Florida Highway Patrolman, stationed in Broward County, Florida, then transferred to Starke, Florida, in 1973. After his career with the Highway Patrol, he became a long-distance truck driver working with various companies until he retired.He joins in Heaven his mom, parents-in-law, brother Roger Clontz, brother-in-law Ronald Smith, sister, and brother-in-law Ed & Josephine Combs.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda Jean Phillips, son Marshall Phillips of Starke, Florida, daughter Michelle Russell of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and granddaughter Autumn Russell.Daughter Vanessa Phillips of Starke, Florida, and her three children: Emma Phillips, Isaiah Crowd, and Caiden Frazier.Survived by brothers Gerald Clontz of Hollywood, Florida; Mike (Patsy) Phillips of Frostproof, Florida; Timothy Black of West Virginia.Two nieces, Becky Jacobsen of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Kimberly Runge of Warner Robins, Georgia.One nephew, Michael Steven Phillips of Hollywood, Florida.He will be remembered as a loving and generous man who never met a stranger. He loved all his family dearly and will be deeply missed by all.A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.Arrangements are by Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Starke, Florida.
