Obituary

Era "Faye" McIntosh Beyer, 98 of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away on the night of March 25, 2023, at St Vincents Hospital in Middleburg, Florida after a brief illness. She went peacefully, surrounded by family, with her last words being "I love you". Faye was born October 6, 1924, to the late Otis L McIntosh Sr and Margaret (Maggie) Nelson McIntosh in Jacksonville, Florida. She grew up on a farm during the depression and learned the value of hard work at a young age. She carried that work ethic throughout her life and put it in practice often by serving others. Faye married Thomas James Beyer on September 2, 1944, in Folkston, GA. They spent the majority of their married life in Jacksonville, Florida but held two other Florida cities near to their hearts: Hilliard, where they maintained a garden for years on family property and Keystone Heights, where they had a lake house next to her brother before moving there permanently in 1995. She enjoyed gardening, eating her freshly grown vegetables and grapes, and tending to her citrus trees. She could shell a bushel of peas in nothing flat"!Faye was primarily a housewife but also was employed at JC Penney, which she affectionately referred to as "Penneys". After her husbands retirement, they spent about 20 years traveling the United States in their motorhome, visiting all 50 states and Canada. They were members of the Allegro 49ers Camping Club along with her brother Mac and his wife Glenda. Their family joined them on a few of their adventures, but they eventually required the grandchildren to come one-at-a-time, so they didnt have to referee.Faye loved her family and friends and enjoyed any chance she got to visit with them. You could frequently find her sitting on her porch swing, watching the birds, squirrels, and neighborhood cats and enjoying the warm weather and nice breeze from White Sands Lake. She loved to play card games like Rummy, Skip-Bo, and UNO, even with her grandchildren who didnt dare go easy on her and made her earn all her wins! She also enjoyed fishing, watching CBS soap operas and reality TV shows, getting her hair done (which her husband referred to as Mission Impossible), and getting mail. For her 90th birthday she received around 180 cards! She was an excellent cook, known for her famous turkey dressing and chocolate covered nuts.Faye was a previous member of Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida and current member of Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights, Florida. She absolutely loved her church, Sunday School class, and all her friends who were so kind to her until the very end. In the self-written obituary notes, she left for her family back in 2010 her final words were "I will see you in heaven."Faye is survived by her son Thomas James "TJ" Beyer Jr (Karon) of Tallahassee, FL. Four grandchildren: Ann Marie Beyer of Woodstock, GA, Ginny Beyer of Atlanta, GA, Daniel Beyer (Miranda) of Melrose, FL, and Bryan Beyer. One sister: Laverne Dubose. One great granddaughter on the way, due in July. She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years Thomas James Beyer Sr, son Donald Craig Beyer, sisters Bertha Collins, Lucille Rich, and brothers Charles McIntosh, Eddie McIntosh, Otis "Mac" McIntosh, and Harold McIntosh. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:00am on March 30th at Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights, FL. The funeral will follow at 11:00am at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Stanland officiating. Burial will be at Keystone Heights Cemetery.
