Frances Greenway Cameron, 96, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on February 24, 2024 after a remarkable loving life.Frances was born in Jonesborough, TN on December 9, 1927 to Charley and Florence Greenway, and was the younger sister of Mildred Clark. Frances attended Washington College High School and East Tennessee State University, where she met her husband of 70 years Carl Cameron.Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her marriage was a true love story, her husband Carl adored her until his death in 2018. He never raised his voice to her and always came home on time to enjoy quality time with her. Frances had two children, Louise Beck and William Cameron, and five grandchildren Nicholas, Cameron, and Savannah Beck, and John, and Gabrielle Cameron. Frances was a great role model, always wanting the best for us and expecting us to be our best at all times. She lived on Acapulco Road in Southside with her husband Carl for almost 60 years. Frances was trim and athletic, enjoying softball and watching football and baseball. She walked a couple of miles a day into her 80s. She also enjoyed Bridge, regularly playing with her friends. Frances lived through the Depression and World War II, and through the advent of the radio, television, telephone, computer, internet, and cell phone.After raising her children, Frances worked at Brookview Elementary and later at JEA for 15 years as an Executive assistant. She enjoyed working.Frances was preceded in death by her parents Charley and Florence, her husband Carl, her sister Mildred, and her nephew Kenneth Clark. Frances is survived by her children and grandchildren.Frances will be buried next to her husband Carl at Oak Lawn Cemetery on San Jose Blvd in Jacksonville, FL, in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her church of 60 years, Spring Glen Methodist Church, or to the American Cancer Society.
