Frances Louise Graves, 95, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2026.
Frances was born on June 1,1931 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Frank J. Ban and Louise Ban (Strack). She was educated at Assumption Catholic School in Kansas City and St. Aloysius Girls' Academy in Kansas City. Following high school, she attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, Kansas, and Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas, beginning a long and distinguished career in nursing and healthcare.
Frances worked as a registered nurse at Menorah Hospital and Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She also worked for the Missouri Department of Health in St. Louis. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida, she continued her career in healthcare at the Jacksonville Blood Bank and later at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, from which she retired. Her practical nature and interest in useful solutions were also reflected in her patent for a baby formula mixer.
Frances was married to Harold Graves for 55 years. Harold preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Graves, in 2019.
She is survived by her son, Randy Graves (Olya); daughters, Nancy Humphries (Ken) and Laura Malevan (Mike ✝); nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Frances enjoyed entertaining family, telling stories, chatting with friends, and reading. She was one strong woman that could do anything she set her mind to. Her career in nursing reflected her dedication to helping others, while her warmth, and devotion to family shaped the life she shared with those around her.
Frances "Mimi" will be remembered for her dedication to her family, and for the cherished memories that will endure through the generations. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.Frances Graves was laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
