Funeral services for Frank McDonald Ferren, 71, will be held at 11:30am Friday, April 11, 2014 from the graveside at Jacksonville National Cemetery, with military honors by the United States Air Force. Born June 29, 1942 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Mr. Ferren died Monday, April 7, 2014 in Jacksonville. He was retired after 36 years in Electronics from U. S. Steel. A Mormon, Mr. Ferren served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post No.283. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Charlene Spencer Ferren of Jacksonville; two daughters, Diane Varner of Orange Park, FL and Lori (Brian) Hassett of Virginia Beach, VA; three sons, Tracy (Nancy) Ferren of Birmingham AL, Jeffrey (Randy) Ferren of Panama City, FL, and Stephen Perez, Jr. of Jacksonville; a brother, Scott (Virginia) Frederick of Monongahela, PA; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, where the family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday.
