Frederick "Fred" Leta Roberts Jr., 84, of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully at home Wednesday April 29, 2015. He was born to the late Susie & Frederick L. Roberts Sr. in Miami, FL on Dec. 29, 1930. Fred graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1949. He served his beloved country in the Navy as a radio operator during the Korean War and afterwards served in the National Guard. He was a member of the International Longshoremen's Association Clerks and Checkers Local #1593 and retired after 29 years of working in the maritime industry. He enjoyed being a HAM radio operator (WD4JWR), gardening, telling jokes and just talking to people. Fred is now reunited with his wife of 48 years, Peggy Keith Roberts (Dec. 23, 1998), his son, K. Michael Roberts (Nov. 24, 2000) and his devoted dog, Toby. Fred is survived by his beloved daughter Terry Ray and her husband Paul Ray; Proud Papa to Deanne (John) Salisbury, Angela (Jeremy) Thomas, Lynette (Kris) Cunday and Kathy Ray. He was Great Papa to Johnathan, Luke, Ethan and Ella. Your memory will forever be cherished by those you loved. Graveside services will be held 10: 30am Wednesday May 13, 2015 at Greenlawn Cemetery.
