Obituary

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1936 to German immigrants Paul and Anna Roeder, Frederick married his wife Marlene in 1956. Frederick joined the Air Force as a line mechanic and attended night school to earn his Bachelors degree in Physics from Florida Institute of Technology. Frederick went on as a civilian to work throughout the aerospace industry on the iconic Apollo missions and the last Space Shuttle launches. Rejoining the military as a Navy Reservist, Fred was called back to active duty for Desert Storm, during which he was stationed in Naples, Italy assessing fight aircraft damage. Retiring as a Captain, Fred still enjoyed designing and engineering, constructing remote-controlled planes and model train layouts. Fred is preceded in death by his parents and youngest son, Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, his eldest son Frederick Jr., only daughter Sharlene, his one grandson David, along with David's wife Cara, their daughter Elizabeth and his sons' wives, Lores and Barbara.
