SHEARES: Funeral services for Bishop Frederick Thomas Sheares, 81, who passed away on November 17, 2023, will be held Tuesday at 2:30 PM in Jacksonville National Cemetery with Bishop Darrell Sheares Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 AM -11 AM at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard south, Jacksonville, Florida 32216. Bishop Sheares was born in Columbus, Ohio and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was active in the American Legion, VFW, Elks and the Masons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elvin Paul Sheares Jr.; Survivors include his 4 daughters, Nija Sheares, Sylvia Benson, Sierra Sheares, and Winter Williams; 5 sons, Anthony Harrell, Taqariq Sheares, Frederick Thomas Sheares II, Thomas Sheares, and Byron Davis; 1 sister, Beverly Daniels ; 1 brother, Forest Sheares; 20 grandchildren and numerous great- greatgrandchildren.
