Mr. Gary Thurman BuckleyMr. Gary Thurman Buck Buckley age 81, of Keystone Heights formerly of Starke, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Haven Hospice, Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. Mr. Buckley was born on April 7, 1930 in Royce, Texas to the late Burtis and Opal Thurman Buckley and was a longtime area resident. He retired from the United States Navy as a Jet Mechanic and later retired from the state of Florida Department of Corrections. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Starke. Gary enjoyed playing volleyball, spending time with his family, traveling, doing mechanic work, and was an avid hunter. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathrine Hamlin. Survivors are his wife of 60 years Grace Crews Buckley of Keystone Heights; daughters: Martha Buckley Boyette (Stan) of Starke; Linda Buckley Waters of Keystone Heights; sister: Eva Chenoweth of Grand Prairie, TX; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 620 E Nona Street in Starke on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the DEWITT C. JONES CHAPEL with Reverend Ben Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery.
