Gary E. Buerger

BUERGER: Mr. Gary E. Buerger, 78, passed away Thursday September 14, 2017, in the Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, FL surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness. Gary was born October 12, 1938 in Binghamton, NY to the late Edward and Mildred Buerger Combes and step-father, David Combes. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Buerger and a special niece Tracy Buerger Hughes. He had retired from the N.E. Florida Safety Council, as Executive Director. And was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served aboard the USS Saratoga. He was an avid baseball fan following his grandson from T-Ball through College and rooting for the Yankees. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Deloris Buerger, Jacksonville, daughter Tina (Gary) Bennett, grandson, McCray Bennett and sister-in-law, Maxine McDonald all of Jacksonville. Memorial services will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, at 11:00 AM in Restoration Church, 1677 Southside Boulevard, Jacksonville. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to service. Interment will follow in Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County, Georgia at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to either Restoration Church or Community Hospice. Arrangements under the direction of George H.
