Gary Norris

"Gary" Garland Norris of Keystone Heights passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday, April 22, 2021, after an extremely heroic battle with melanoma. Gary was born in Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation and moved to Keystone Heights in 1980. He enjoyed his work as a Certified Surgical Technologist and retired in 2010. His passions were saltwater fishing, gardening and growing his infamous Parks-Whooper tomatoes and peaches. He also enjoyed cooking, eating his "sweets", Gator basketball and tending to his roses. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and Oscar Norris and his brother Greg Norris. His survivors include his wife of nearly 42 years Marian (Paranay) Norris; sister Gail (David) Downing, sister in-law Carol Norris, mother in-law Dolores Paranay, brother in-law Bill (Debbie) Paranay, sister in-law Carolyn Paranay (Lenny Bastecki) and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A memorial service for Gary will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends and family for a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please omit flowers and make a memorial donation to the Florida Chinese Shar-Pei Rescue or to the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch.
