Mrs. Gay Lavenia Wales age 66, of Graham passed away suddenly Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Gainesville. She was born in Palatka on July 29, 1949 to the late Henry Hyman and Jean (Folsom) Mullis, and had retired as a medical receptionist in Gainesville. Mrs. Wales was of the Mormon faith and enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and cooking; she also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Wales was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was known for her great sense of humor and her enthusiasm for life. Her brother, Richard Jackson Mullis had preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of six years, Robert Wales; two daughters, Kimberly Barber Smith (Michael) of Newberry and Dana Leigh Barber of High Springs. Also left behind six siblings, Henry Mullis and Frances Keeton both of Palatka, Joan Wilson of Jacksonville, Ginger Manning of Arizona, Jo Mullis of Gainesville and Joel Mullis of Destin, along with three grandchildren, Oakleigh, Coleman and Shelbi. Funeral Services for Mrs. Wales will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Mr. Danny DeLoach officiating. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration, 3450 Hull Rd. 4th Floor, Gainesville, FL 32607.
