Mr. George Edward Britt age 82, of Keystone Heights passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Britt was born in Robeson, North Carolina on February 20, 1942 to the late Dewey and Pauline Britt. Mr. Britt graduated from Littlefield High School, Lumberton, NC in 1960 and was Valedictorian of his graduating class. He also graduated from St Andrews College, Laurinburg, NC with a BS in Mathematics and from the University of North Carolina in Boone with a MS in Mathematics both with the highest honors. George loved the Lord, enjoyed singing, Elviss music, and fishing. Prior to retirement he worked as a Physical Education teacher and for the last 15 years worked as a substitute teacher for Bradford, Clay, and Putnam counties. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew James C Lewis and brother-in-law, Wendel Gaffney. Survivors are, his wife of 39 years, Doctor Lounette Richardson Britt, children, Sherry Smith, Ray Richardson, and Donna Drawdy, siblings, Veron McCormick (JD), Lela M. Grier (Ollie), Reverend William W. Britt (Barbara), John H Britt, Norma Sue Britt, Danny Deuell, Sandra G. Lekarczyk (Dave). Also left are ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Freedom Baptist Church on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Cemetery with Pastor Jason Stephens officiating all services.
