Mr. George Papa Richard Griffis age 75 of Lawtey passed away peacefully on Saturday April 6, 2013 at the May Clinic in Jacksonville following and extended illness. Mr. Griffis was born on March 9, 1938 to the late Roy and Ollie (Dinkins) Griffis. Mr. Griffis has been a lifelong resident of Lawtey and prior to his retirement he was employed with the E.I. DuPont Chemical Company. Mr. Griffis loved fishing and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed working on cars and trucks. Mr. Griffis was preceded in death by one brother. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Sandra Rosier Griffis and four children; Rhonda Austin, husband Richard of Tennessee, Tina Garber, husband Dennis, Richard Griffis, and Abram Griffis all of Lawtey. Mr. Griffis also leaves behind his seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his little puppy Shia. The family will receive friends at Highland Baptist Church on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 10:30 to 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11 oclock.
