Mr. George Howard Hand age 84, of Keystone Heights passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Orange Park Medical Center. Mr. Hand was born on October 25, 1925 in Sarasota, Florida to the late LaFayette Joel and Grace Gladys Luke Hand. Mr. Hand was a longtime area resident and a member of the First Christian Church of Starke. He retired from Florida State Prison as the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, retired from The United States Coast Guard after 22 years of service, and served in the US Navy for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Millie Marguerite Hand. Survivors are: daughter: Loretta F. McLeod (David) of Keystone Heights; son: John P. Hand (Donna) of Destin, FL; Seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME in Starke on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services for Mr. Hand will be on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the First Christian Church of Starke with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery.
