Mr. George Washington G.W. Little age 85, of Starke passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Haven Hospice, E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. Mr. Little was born June 6, 1927 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late George W. and Kate (Kearney) Little, Sr. Mr. Little had been a longtime resident of Starke moving here from California. Following his retirement with 21 years of service in the United States Air Force, Mr. Little began working as the Custodian for the First Baptist Church of Starke for 16 years where he had also been a member. He was an active member of the DD724 USS Laffey; he enjoyed wood working, listening to western music, being very organized, and loving. Mr. Littles two brothers and four sisters had preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Lucille (Hagadorn) Little; one son, John David Wilson, wife Rebecca of Concord, North Carolina; one sister, Jean Vance, husband Wade of Alvin, Texas; one grandson, Daniel Wilson and one great granddaughter, Paisley Wilson both of Concord, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.
