Obituary

Mr. George Gary Martin age 77 of Lawtey passed away at his home Saturday, December 10, 2022, following an extended illness. He was born August 17, 1945, in Deerfield Beach to Gary and Ina (McCall) Martin. While serving in the United States Marine Corps he also served 18 months in the Vietnam War. Mr. Martin was a retired minister, member of Christ Church of Starke, and loved sharing the word of God. He also enjoyed being a farmer, gardening, and was very family oriented. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Gayle Rogers. Mr. Martin does leave behind his loving and devoted wife of 43 years Elizabeth "Vicki" (Freeman) Martin of Lawtey and their four daughters Garielle Crapse (Daniel) of Lawtey, Sherah Kemp (Emil) of Guyton, Georgia, Carol Ann Parr (Larken) of Lawtey, and Alexandra Prim (Thomas) of Starke. Also left behind are three sisters Beth Parr and Mary James both of Albany, Georgia, and Debbie Gahimer of Pensacola in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends that will miss him dearly. Mr. Martin was also lovingly called "Granddaddy" by Gabriel, Azalea, Gideon, Anastasia, Felicity, Bethel, Ezra, and Arden. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 15, 2022, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Lester Austin and Bro.
