Funeral services for George Talmadge Maurer, 95, will be held at 11:00a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, from the graveside, in Greenlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Margaret Marquis of Ocoee Christian Church "Disciples of Christ", Ocoee, FL officiating. Born February 14, 1919 in Leesburg, Florida, Mr. Maurer died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home in Jacksonville. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a retired railroad electrician. Following his retirement from the railroad he worked part-time bagging groceries for Publix. Mr. Maurer was a Deacon and Elder at Springfield Presbyterian Church and then a member of Peace Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Temple Lodge No. 23, F. & A. M., the Scottish Rite Bodies, and Morocco Shriners. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Jeanne Chamblee Maurer; a daughter, Mrs. Janyce Maurer (Ken) Pickett both of Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. Shirley Sumner of Sunrise, FL; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Melissa) Pickett, Jameson (Kelly) Pickett and Jordan Keli Pickett; three great-grandchildren, Larkyn Pickett, Landis Pickett and Livia Pickett; and his special caregivers, Linda, Valerie, Jordan, Tracey, Michelle and Steven. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H.
