George Robert Powell

George Robert Powell, age 79, passed away on Sunday April 25, 2021 at his home in Jacksonville. He was born February 1, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from Manatee High School in Bradenton, FL, he graciously served his country in the United States Navy and was a proud member of the Navy Honor Guard Team. George worked for many years as an over the road truck driver- making many of those journeys with the help of his wife, Dolores "Dee". After his career on the road, George worked as the North-East Florida representative for Club Car, Inc. He enjoyed outdoor activities he was an avid hunter & fisherman and he liked spending time with his wonderful family. George was also a member of the William B. Barnett Masonic Lodge.A memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of George H. Hewell & Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S.George is survived by his beloved wife of forty-two years, Dolores "Dee" Powell, his daughters; Vickie Powell Eddins of Jacksonville, FL and Lisa Powell Woods (Leo) of Henrico, VA, two step-children; Dolores Putney (David) of Franklinville, NY and Jeff Giroux (Janice) of Rock Hill, SC, as well as eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and many other extended family members & friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Georges name to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.Following the memorial service, friends may gather to commune and have fellowship with Dee & the family at a luncheon provided by the Order of the Eastern Star Southside Chapter # 28, being held at Duval Lodge, located at 2620 Dean Rd.
