George Calvin Vance George Calvin Vance, 87, passed away on Sunday October 7, 2012 at Westminster Woods. George C. Vance was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on October 12, 1924 to Ralph J. and Ruth Starke Vance. He was a graduate of Indiana University, where he played clarinet in the marching band, and received his Masters of Divinity from Northwestern University. Rev. Vance was a retired Methodist minister, serving the United Methodist Church for over 40 years in Indiana and Ohio. He was a member of Southside Methodist Church in Jacksonville and a memorial service will be held in the chapel of Westminster Woods at a later date to be announced.Rev. Vance was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Aldrich Vance. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Leila Carter Vance; sons, David (Helen) Vance and Paul (Laurie) Vance; grandchildren, Todd (Karen) Vance and Julie Vance (Jeff) Dixon; great grandchildren, Sierra Vance, Avery Dixon, Owen Dixon and Luke Dixon; step-children, Lisa de Treville Farmer, Richard Haskel de Treville and Toppy Lance Carter and a step-grandson, Richard Carter de Treville.Rev.
