Georgia L. Matthews

Mrs. Georgia L. Matthews age 102, of Florahome passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka. She was born in Nashville, Georgia on October 30, 1914 to the late Wesley and Pearlie Mae (Harnage) Mathis. Formerly of Jacksonville, Mrs. Matthews had been a resident of Florahome for the last 14 years. She was a member of the College Road Church of Christ, and enjoyed spending time with the Ladies of the Lake. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Matthews; daughter, Linda Wilson; and grandson, Blake Weathers. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Lloyd of Jacksonville and Sarah Bryan of Florahome; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 in the chapel of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions please be made to the Alzheimers Association for Alzheimer and Dementia Research, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
