Geraldine Griffis

Mrs. Geraldine Griffis, age 93, of Starke went to be with God on March 17, 2016. She was born in Lake Butler on December 31, 1922 to the late James W. and Leaty (Groves) Todd and was a lifelong resident of Starke. Mrs. Griffis was a homemaker and was known for her kind and generous nature by always willing to give. She enjoyed reading, loved spending time with her family, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother whom will be greatly missed by everyone. Her husband Ancil W. Griffis had preceded her in death as well as two sons, Joseph Griffis, Sr. and Bobby Griffis; three grandchildren, Joseph Griffis, Jr., Tracy Griffis and Kenneth Stall; three great grandchildren, Thorne McSpadden, Mariah Hagen and Manuel Reagan along with five siblings; Her survivors are her eleven children and their spouses, Leroy Griffis (Jan) of New Falls, Ohio, Leo Griffis (Joann) of Callahan, Donald Griffis (Judy) of Lake Milton, Ohio, Lamar Griffis (Benita) of Raiford, Sadie McKinney (James) of Hampton Lake, Janie Heiken of Andalusia, Alabama, Bernice Manning (Johnny) of MacClenny, Carolyn Mintz and Joan Buschel both of St. Petersburg, Annette Tomlinson (James) and Evelyn Crawford all of Starke. Also left behind are thirty-six grandchildren, seventy-one great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 4- 5 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 21, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Sampson City Church of God with Reverend Gene Bass officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Raiford.
