Getachew Belaineh, 58, of Gainesville passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2013 surrounded by his family and friends.Getachew was born on May 21st, 1954 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He came to the United States in 1990 to attend school at Utah State University, where he received his Ph. D. in biological and agricultural engineering. He then moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1995 and began working at St. John's River Water Management District as a senior engineer/scientist. He was a hard-working individual with a big heart. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as spending time outdoors.Getachew is survived by his wife, Mahlet Yared and two daughters, Heran and Le-Alem Getachew.Visitation will be on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with a Trisagion Service being said at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Greek Orthodox Church, 5129 N.W. 53rd Ave. Gainesville, FL.
