GLENDA JOYCE HILANDGlenda Joyce Hiland, age 78, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in Jacksonville. Glenda was born August 5, 1943 to David Dewey Walker & Lila Hersey Walker in Waycross, Georgia. Glenda was a Jacksonville resident for over 60 years and was of the Baptist faith. She retired in 2005 after 25 years working for Johnson & Johnson as a line supervisor in their contact lens production department.Glenda was a family-oriented woman, coming as she did from a large family, in which she was one of sixteen children. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Willis "Jim" Hiland; a son, Harry Clifford Johnson, Jr. and by 14 of her siblings. She is survived by 2 daughters, Michelle Renee Richmond & Debra Lynn Simon; 2 sons, Jason Walter Johnson & Daryl Harley Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and by a brother, Jerry Walker. Glenda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday April 15th, 2022 in the chapel of George H. Hewell & Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Glendas name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or to the charity/organization of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
