Harvey Glenn Batton, Master Mason age 69, a longtime resident of Keystone Heights passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 23, 1944 at St. Lukes Hospital in Jacksonville to the late Harvey Green and Lilla Mae (Cox) Batton. Mr. Battons career in Law Enforcement began as a Drivers License Examiner with the Florida Highway Patrol in 1966. Then in 1967, he was a Deputy Constable with the City of Jacksonville which later transitioned him to becoming a Deputy Sheriff with the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office from which he had retired. He had also been a Game warden, and a Firefighter. Mr. Battons memberships include; Trinity Baptist Church, Hawthorne Masonic Lodge 103, a longtime standing member of the F.O.P. in Jacksonville, and a life member of the NRA. His past memberships are the Keystone Shrine Club where he had been a Keystone KOP and the Keystone Aero Club where he had held a Pilots license. Surviving Mr. Batton are; his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Ann (Free) Batton, their three children; Ward Batton and his wife Linda of Bronson and their children, Matthew, Mark, and Amanda; Martha Fachko and her husband David of Yulee and their sons, Daniel and Jackson, and Charlene Beebe and her husband Kyle of Marianna and their daughters Annika and Meghan. Also left behind are Mr. Battons two sisters; Sylvia Adams and JoAnn Taylor both of Jacksonville, his mother in law, Barbara Mae Kemp, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends. Funeral services for Mr. Batton will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Peoples and Rev. Jim Hubbard officiating. The burial will follow at Keystone Heights Cemetery. The family has requested in lieu of flowers for contributions to be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Comcast Ministries, P.O.
