Gloria Parsons
March 26, 1949, to September 16, 2026
Gloria Hazel Parsons passed away on September 16, 2026, at Orange Park Hospital, Orange Park, FL. Her family gathered around her, whispering to her with love as she peacefully fell into the arms of Jesus.
Gloria is survived by her husband, John (Jack) Robert Parsons, her daughter, Heather Marie Lynn, her husband Ralph Keck Lynn, and her son, Tobin James Parsons, his wife Dayle Parsons. She also leaves behind her cherished four beautiful granddaughters, and five great grandchildren, her older sister, Linda Rubrake and her twin sister, Victoria Iannucci.
Gloria was an extraordinarily strong woman who gave her whole heart to everything she did and everyone she met. Whether it was caring for her family, building her career, or transforming her creative passions into a business, she approached life with determination, generosity and love.
After a successful banking career, Gloria retired from Bank of America to pursue a dream she had carried with her for years; opening her own business. Her dream became The Olde Green Cupboard located in the Mandarin area in Jacksonville, FL.
The Olde Green Cupboard soon became far more than a place to shop. It grew into a nationally known quilt shop and a destination location for quilters and stitchers from across the United States and beyond. The shop received numerous honors, including an award from Better Homes and Gardens and recognition as the best quilt shop in Florida. Gloria offered to her customers nationally known teachers who were delighted to teach students at retreats held at the store. She organized and led quilting cruises that travelled to tropical islands and as far as Rome. At the opening of the shop, she offered basket weaving classes that filled immediately with eager students. She was so proud that she made it a goal to pay the rent with the beautiful art of weaving.
Gloria’s accomplishments could never be measured by an award but gave her PRIDE that she had created a community. Through the Cupboard, Gloria opened not only her doors but also her heart to people who sometimes doubted their own abilities. She offered encouragement, confidence, friendship and the joy of creating something beautiful with their own hands. Customers became friends, beginners became accomplished quilters, stitchers, weavers and countless people left the shop believing they could do something within the arts they once thought was beyond their reach.
Gloria and Jack shared 58 years of marriage. During Jack’s service in the United States Navy, Gloria embraced the responsibilities and sacrifices of being a Navy wife. Their military years took the family to Cuba, where they spend part of their life together before Jack completed his service. They relocated to Jacksonville, FL where they established their permanent home and built the life they would share for decades.
The family welcomes everyone who knew and loved Gloria and her family to come together to celebrate her life at a service to be held at RCC Church, located at 5900 Route 17 In Fleming Island, FL on October 15, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Please join the family in the church atrium after the service to meet family and friends, share loving stories and memories, laugh and be happy Gloria is with Jesus and smiling down upon us. She loves all of you.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to RCC Church in Gloria’s memory.
In loving memory,
Parsons family
