Gordon "Leon" Parrish

Mr. Gordon "Leon" Parrish age 82, of Keystone Heights passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. He was born on May 13, 1935 in Chickamauga, Georgia to Gordon Lee and Viola Roberts (Anderson) Parrish. Mr. Parrish was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from United Water Works in Jacksonville after 24 years of service. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Carol moved to Keystone Heights in 1997. Leon was an avid builder and caregiver. He loved spending time outdoors and taking road trips with his wife. He also enjoyed playing guitar, singing and spending time with his family. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Arthur Parrish, Maxine Davis, Wayne Parrish, and Orville Parrish. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol Ann Parrish of Keystone Heights; children, Steven L. Parrish (Michelle) of Jacksonville, Roy D. Parrish of Keystone Heights, Gary L. Parrish of Keystone Heights, and LeeAnn N. Anderson (Andrew) of St. Augustine; brother, Doug Parrish (Barbara) of Jacksonville; and sister, Bonnie Ciufo of Chickamauga, Georgia. Also left behind are his grandchildren, Ryan Parrish, Alexandra Humphrey (Nathan), Erin Anderson, Andrew Anderson and Amber Hicks; and great grandchildren, Carter Parrish, Beckett Parrish, and soon to be Baby Humphrey.A Celebration of Leons Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the home of LeeAnn and Andrew Anderson.
