Grace Bliven was born in Charleston, Rhode Island on December 27,1915, the third child of Frank and Edith Bliven. She attended Gordon College of Theology and Missions (class of 1938). On November 27, 1936, she married Frank Hagemann and began to serve the Lord as a pastors wife and helpmate in Baptist churches in Massachusetts, Long Island, Elizabethtown, KY, and Peoria, IL. It was during their calling in Kentucky that they adopted their "three blessed Kentucky babes": Timothy Niels, Joyce Lorraine, and Rebekah Hope. Tim and Joyce both preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Rebekah Fletcher of Ruskin, FL as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. From 1960-1976 Grace and Frank were New Church Missionaries, organizing new Baptist churches throughout the state of Florida. In 1976, Frank retired as an active pastor, and they moved to Penney Retirement Community where Frank died in 1986. Grace remained very active at PRC in her Bible study class, oil painting, and serving fellow residents. On January 1, 1988, she married Charles T. Hawkins, and they continued to enjoy time at PRC and traveling until his death in 1999. The family would like to thank the loving angels of the Pavilion at PRC who were family to Grace for these last many years and the nurses and staff of Community Hospice whose loving hands and hearts guided her through these last years.
