Gwendolyn Jewell Carben

CARBEN: Funeral services for Gwendolyn Jewell Carben, 97, who passed away on January 30, 2026, will be held February 5, 2026, Thursday at 10 AM in the chapel of Moloney-Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard South, Jacksonville, Florida 32216, with Pastor Richard Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends February 4th Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in Orange Baptist Church Cemetery, Live Oak, Florida.

Mrs. Carben was the daughter of the late John and Selma Downs. She was a member of First Coast Baptist Church. She was preceded by her loving husband of many years, James Roy Carben; and daughter, Mabeline Carben.

Survivors include her nephews, Lloyd O'Dell Downs (Robin) and John Henry Downs (Lydia); Niece, Anita G. Price (Ron); Many other nieces, nephews and many friends.
