Harvey Charles George

Funeral services for Harvey Charles George, 90, will be held at 11:30a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South with Dr. Terry R. Gore of Franklin Street Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.Born Sept. 2, 1927 in Jacksonville, FL, Mr. George died Friday, Dec. 15, 2017. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. George attended the University of Florida before going to work at Ryder Truck Lines. He worked for Independent Life Ins. Co. for 27 years before retiring in 1993. He was an active member and an ordained Deacon of First Baptist Church. He was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, and a Shriner. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jim Bender of Longwood, FL and two grandsons, Jake and Cole Bender. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of N.E.
