Harvey L. Jay, Jr.

JAYHarvey L. Jay, Jr., age 88, passed away on Tuesday April 27, 2021 in Jacksonville. Harvey was born October 13, 1932 in Fitzgerald, GA to Harvey L. Jay Sr. & Lydia Coney Jay. He was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School, class of 1949 and later received his Bachelors Degree in 1955 from Mercer University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Jay served his country proudly as an officer in the United States Army.He was a resident of Jacksonville since 1962 and established a successful career in real estate. Harvey was an avid sports enthusiast, and was especially passionate about his beloved Florida Gators. He served as a church deacon at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church for many years, where he also devoted his time volunteering as the recreation director. He also enjoyed his time spent with his extended family at their vacation home on Amelia Island.Harvey L. Jay, Jr. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Hodges Jay; a daughter, Margie Farrior; a son, Harvey L. Jay, III (wife, Mary); 5 grandchildren, Jordan Jay, Helen Jay, Brooke Farrior Angle (Colin), Blaire Farrior & Hugh Farrior; a brother, Charles Jay & a sister, Lydia Jay Mason.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Harvey Jay, Jr. may be made to the Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church Recreation Program, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207.Arrangements under the direction of George H.
