NEWTON Hazel Elliott Newton, age 90, of Keystone Heights, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice York Care, in Gainesville, Saturday September 3, 2011. Mrs. Newton was born October 2, 1920 in Georgia to the late William Elliott and Annie Lou McMullen and lived in Jacksonville for the majority of her life. She was a loving wife and mother, whose lifelong work, was her home and family. Hazel enjoyed cooking, crocheting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Mr. Ellis E. Newton and is survived by her children; W. Earl Newton of Jacksonville, Fl., Elaine Perry of Keystone Heights, Gloria Driver of Tupelo, Ms., Steve Newton (Ellen) of Jacksonville, Fl. and Ike Newton; also her two brothers, Robert Elliott of Lakeland, FL., John Elliott of Barwick, Ga., 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. hide
