Helen King Ferguson passed away on February 28, 2017. She was raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia and came to Jacksonville in 1951. Her husband Thomas Allen Ferguson their son Marshall Glenn Ferguson II and her sister Linda McGuire preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother; Ollie S. King III, a son; Thomas Allen Ferguson, Jr. (Debbie) a daughter; Georganna Ferguson, a granddaughter Karin Sharp (Gary) and a grandson Michael Ferguson, as well as four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Ferguson received her bachelor's degree from Boston University and earned a Master's Degree in Education from Jacksonville University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Florida State University. She worked for many years in the field of adoption and also taught school for six years. She wrote a column relating to social work issues for the Times Union. She was a church choir member and soloist in several local churches through the years. Her funeral service will be held on March 4th at 2:00 PM at Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32223 with Pastor Will Wold officiating.
