Helen Block Jenkins

Mrs. Helen Block Jenkins, 99, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at her home in Jacksonville. She was born Jan. 12, 1917 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Emil and Henrietta Block. Her older sister, Kathryn Dieterich Sterman, preceded her in death. Helen married Robert B. Jenkins in 1939. Their children are Robert Wilson Jenkins (Sharon) and Kathleen Ann Clarke. Helen has a granddaughter, Heather Clarke Slocum (Brian) and their son Jack, Helens great-grandson. Helen has a grandson, Robert T. Clarke and also a grandson, Robert J. M. Jenkins (Elizabeth) and their children, Emily, Abbey, Zoey and Sayge, Helens great-grandchildren. Helen has a nephew, William H. Dieterich III and his son William H. Dieterich IV. The Helen Jenkins family were in Milwaukee 10 years, 7 years in Binghamton, New York, 7 years in Waverly, Iowa and arrived in Jacksonville, Florida in 1962. At each location Helen established attractive comfortable homes, became active in her church, the childrens education, social clubs and developing life time friendships. A member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, she was a Circle Leader, Meals on Wheels, and attended Sunday school and church regularly. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of several groups. She was active in her community and the Grove Park Garden Club. Helen was a beautiful lady, a loving help to her husband and children and a true friend. A memorial service will be held at 2:00P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2016 in South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bruce E. Hedgepeth officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
