Helen Goodowns Mason, 98, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on August 25, 2023.Born in Jacksonville, she was the daughter of the late Sudie Hall and Thomas CoyNichols (step-father). Helen was also preceded in death by Claude Roy Mason, herhusband of 59 years. She enjoyed life as a wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and was a friend of many.Helen found great joy and pleasure in being a homemaker for many years. She lovedbaking and cooking for her family and loved ones. She attributed her long life to walkingseveral miles each day, and fondly recalled having to hold her husbands hand to keepup with him. For over 80 years, she blessed those around her with her passion forcrocheting. She was a member of the Cypress Village Community, where sheparticipated in the Sew and Chat Club. During this time, she was recognized for makingand donating over 500 crocheted hats for chemo patients and countless crochetedstuffed animals for hospitalized children at the Mayo Clinic. In more recent years, Helencrocheted many animals for her family and friends. She had a generous heart and acontagious smile. She was much loved and will be dearly missed.Helen is survived by her sons, Thomas Coy (Beth) of Riverview, Florida, and DonaldTerry (Sue) of Green Cove Springs, Florida; her grandchildren Coy Mason, LindseyBashaw (Jacob), Kristi Marshall (Josh), and Kati Stanton (Clifton) and step-granddaughters; Hollie Stephens and Alexandra Scanlon (Josh). Helen was blessed withgreat grandchildren Hannah and Mason Bashaw; Danny, Shane, Liam, and CaydenMarshall; Cait and Kai Stanton; and step-great-grandchildren Brian Christopher andKeely Pratt.A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:30 am, atEvergreen Cemetery located at 4535 Main Street North, Jacksonville 32206, Gate #5.Arrangements are being made by George H.
