Helen Pitt Overfield, 100, passed away on February 3, 2015. She was the daughter of Mary and John Pitt of Sharon, PA. Helen moved to Florida in 1958. She attended Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church. She retired from Children's Services, State of Florida, in 1984 after 17 years as secretary in Juvenile Court Division. After retirement Helen attended Florida Community College and University of North Florida art classes. She became a talented local artist. She had a lifelong love of dancing and participated in ballroom dancing. She was a lady full of kindness and grace. Survivors include two loving sons Joel (Sandy) and Tom (Cheryl) and five grandchildren Tom Jr. (Toni), Brian, Tim (Carolyn), Amy Moseley (Steve) and Dana Kindred (Sam) and ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A memorial service to celebrate Helen's long life will be held at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S., Jacksonville, FL 32216 on Saturday, February 14th at 1:00PM., with Chaplain Bob Bole of Taylor Residences officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hermitage, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice or Taylor Home. The family would like to thank Taylor Home for the care she received during the last seven years and Baptist Hospital and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida for the excellent care she received during her brief illness.
