Our beloved mother and Nana, Helen McRae Strickland age 83, of Starke, has gone to heaven where there will be no more suffering with pain & Alzheimers disease on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was born on November 4, 1932 in Palmetto to the late Lopez and Annie Mae (Martin) McRae. Helen was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Starke and worked as a seamstress for Big Dad, Cadillac and Starke Uniform. She was preceded in death by her husband Raleigh E. Strickland, brothers: Eugene McRae, William McRae, and Clyde McRae. Survivors are: children: Genie Smith (Morgan Lee) of Newberry, Harold Strickland of Jacksonville, Jimmy Strickland of Keystone Heights, Theresa Justus (Rick) of Bradenton, Danny Strickland of Melrose and Laura Diehl (Mike) of Jacksonville, siblings: Ellis McRae of Michigan and Sylvia Newcomb of High Springs. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lee, Chris Michelle, Jaymes, Keri, Jason, Summer, Ricky, Alexa, and Britton, thirteen great grandchildren, her extended family, Sandra Darley, Terri Mangus (Jim), Charlotte Addison and all the staff at Ayers Health & Rehab Center and Haven Hospice. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Crosby Lake Cemetery with Pastor Andy Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Ayers Health & Rehab Center Indoor Recreation Fund, 606 NE 7th Street, Trenton, FL 32693.
