Henry "Marvin" Tomlinson of Lake Butler passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Tomlinson was born and raised in Starke, FL on July 20, 1951 and has been a resident of Union County for the last 52 years. Marvin was married to the love of his life, Diane Tomlinson for 52 years. He was a devoted family man and respected law enforcement officer.Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maggie Tomlinson.He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane Tomlinson of Lake Butler; his siblings Mark (Brenda) of Richmond, VA, Franklin (Edie) of Albuquerque, NM, Sandra Ritchie (Bob) of Kissimmee, FL, and James (Annette) of Starke, FL. His sons Brian (April), Matt (Jamie), Kevin (Kaitlin) all of Lake Butler. His grandchildren Cali, Ayden, Brysen, Chloe, Emery, and Aubree. Also, his sweet and loving Labradoodles Coconut and Brinkley. Marvin worked for the Union County Sheriffs Office for over 30 years in various capacities. He retired from the Florida Department of Corrections in 2000 and continued to work full time with the Union County Sheriffs Office until his retirement in 2013. During this time, he served as Captain and Jail Director. In 2014, he returned to the Union Countys Sheriffs Office as the Chief Bailiff of the Courts Division. He is also retired from the U.S. Army National Guard after 22 years of service. He was also an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Mr. Tomlinson will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He will never be forgotten. His memory will remain strong through his wife, children, and grandchildren.
