Herman Leslie Oliver, age 85, of Green Cove Springs, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012. He was born in Ragsdale, Indiana on November 24, 1927. Mr. Oliver was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Green Cove Springs and after retirement in 1968, he remained in the area with his family. He then went to work for the Clay County School Board. Mr. Oliver attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had also attended St. Philip Neri Church. He was married for 61 years to Amy M. Oliver. Along with his wife, Mr. Oliver is survived by all 8 of his children, Hattie Willis and husband, Ron, John Oliver and wife, Kathryn, Diane Rauchwarger and husband, Alan, George Oliver and wife, Debbie, Margaret Schultz and husband, Kenny, Sandra Davis and husband, Scott, Janet Crowder and Ray Oliver and wife, Teresa, as well as, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home with Reverend John Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, where the U.S. Navy will conduct honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00AM until time of services at Noon.
