Hermine Gardner Forsyth Hermine Gardner Forsyth, 88, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, passed away December 11, 2012. She was born in Concord, NC on June 14, 1924 to O. R. and Mary Irvin Gardner. She graduated from the Womens College of North Carolina in 1945 (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) with a degree in Education and Business. After working in Concord, NC, she married George Forsyth, Jr. on October 16, 1949, and they lived in North Carolina before moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1953. In addition to her husband, Hermine is survived by two sons, Scott Forsyth of Atlantic Beach and Alan Forsyth of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, George (Sandy) Forsyth III. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Hermine and her husband loved to travel and together they visited all 50 states and every Canadian province, and toured Europe several times. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 16th from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. A service celebrating Hermines life will be held on Monday, December 17th at 11:00a.m., in South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow in Harvin Hall. A private interment will follow later in the day at Oaklawn Cemetery.
